David Batchelor Research

After going to the museums in manchester and looking around them I discovered an artist named David Batchelor. He is a Scottish artist and trained at the Nottingham trent university doing art and design. As shown below he did a lot of work using light and bright colours, his work is right up my street because I love powerful colours and abstract shapes. He did a lot of sculptures as well as paintings I prefer his sculptures though but I find his paintings very contrasting and fun to look at. For my future work I will defiantly us David's style and skills with in my work as I love the chosen colours and techniques he uses.

In The Whitworth Gallery in Manchester I discovered Davids work. It was hung and slowly rotating above a flight of stairs, it is named Platos disco . As you can see in the image below all the walls were white, I feel they did this so that the colours reflecting off of this piece were clear to see and stood out. This sculpture in particular I liked because o how he used metal and glass, I feel the speed it was rotating as well added an impact, it made it very dramatic and presentable. I took this image at this angel to include the reflection on the wall and to get all of the sculpture in it as it is a very long piece of work.
