Banner Design 3

When designing my third poster I found it difficult to work with as the image I chose had similar colours to each other. This made editing the image hard as the contrasts wouldn't work as well as they would with another image. However in the end I stuck with this photo as I really liked how bright and striking it is and I knew it would work well with one of the banner and poster designs. To create this image I took a photo of a section of the paint wall in the 2D studio and placed it into photoshop, it was an area where ink had been spilled excessively. Then I began to use curves and levels to experiment with the contrasts and enhance the brighter colours to create a more exciting vibe to it.

After editing the image I then put it into illustrator and began to design a banner using the image. The text I chose first was Bauhaus and it is this text I will keep as I feel it works well with the background image, however I will experiment with different colours for the text and for the block colours on the right of the designs. In my opinion I feel that the left hand design is more appropriate than the right design as the darker colour separates the brighter colours with the one solid dark colour. Although Ive finished these designs I still feel that there is still room for improvement and I need to look into Bauhaus designs to work from them to progress in my work.

After researching into Bauhaus and working from some of their images I have created a more modern and funky design but stuck with the original left hand design as I like this banner because it includes the whole image in the design. Now for the design on the right I used the style of Bauhaus to influence my work and give it a different layout to my other designs. In my opinion I feel it has worked much better than the other recent designs and it isn't as simple and dull, it has a more abstract vibe to it but it still includes my image I took and edited. However to finalise my design I experiment using other texts such as: Times New Roman, Helvetica and Georgia, in the end I chose Helvetica light as this suited the design a lot better than the original text (Bauhaus). To extended this banner I will create a poster and a business card to keep using the theme Bauhaus and to see what the other layouts would look like other than just a banner design.
