Another experiment I did was using the fruit pomegranate, I chose this fruit to print as it is very detailed and textured. Buying one was quite simple as they are easy to find, to begin with I cut it in half and took out some of the seeds to add holes in the fruit. I have tested several out onto white paper and printed a couple of them on it. The first image I simply just used the juices from the pomegranate to see how that would look, in my opinion I think the prints look quite watery and slightly grey and dull. However in these prints I see more than just a pomegranate, I see the female reproductive system and mainly buttocks sat down on a piece of paper, like Haris Lithos's work. These prints again, link with my artists work as they both print and experiment with detailed objects. Then I used printing ink and covered the outer layer of pomegranate with like a blue/grey colour, the result is shown in the second image below. I feel it is more clear to see the main outer layer of the fruit but I think it has not worked with getting the detail from the inside of the fruit. I could of improved it by putting more paint in the inside of the fruit or use a different colour.
After observing the first two prints I decided to use a lighter colour. I thought about using white or yellow but feel they would be too light. So I created a light pink tone of paint and made it quite thick when I put it on the pomegranate see with in these prints the arteries of a heart, straight through the centre of the pomegranate.
The pomegranates afterwards:
These paintings are however very different to the previous ones, this is because I created these with a little bit more aggression. After I had used one side of the fruit it began to fall apart, so I dropped it onto the paper without looking to see what I could get from it. I got a messy, inky, splatter with hints of different shades of blues, purples and pinks. In the left image this was when the pomegranate started to erode and crumble I had chance to drop it down correctly a few times but eventually it began to fall apart and break, this is why the left image is very runny at the juices had mixed with the paints and created a big splatter.
