Life
drawing has been enjoyable for me as it has let me be much more free
with my work. I began with using a simple pencil as this is where I
feel I had to begin to learn how to get the correct proportion of the
body. To start with the model did a lot of stood up poses, this lead
to more points and curves and she was angling her arms. I found this
difficult because drawing arms are not my strong point. However doing
this did improve my confidence and skills in general life drawing.
After learning all these new techniques, e.g measuring body
proportions with a pencil I began to use a material I am very
comfortable with and enjoy using, acrylic paint. To help me I also
looked into an artist named Stella Vine she uses bold colours and
smears it onto the dark and light areas of the model. She also uses
words around her paintings which is what I attempted doing to see if
it works with me too.
Also to separate my painting from the plain background I decided to paint the back base of the model to contrast the colours I used on her body. I chose an emerald green as I had not used this colour in her body at all. Im happy with the tonal areas in her breasts as I feel I have lightened the areas that needed it and added darker shades of yellow around her neck to show more tone. I would like to use this technique that Stella does in the future as I find it very sharp and loud.
