Banner design 1

For my first design I used an image I took from the wall that we designed using acrylic paint and ink. I then placed it into photoshop and began to enhance the colours and experiment with it. I started off with using the curves option and the levels tool to create a dark effect and bolder look to the image. I also looked into the selective colour option and removed all the colours out of the white areas the make them stand out more and look more clear and to create a contrast with the other colours. After completing a design I am happy with, I then extended my work a little further and set the settings on the curves option to dark. This then created the other image below and made the hands and paint splats more black and powerful, in my opinion I find it slightly scary compared to my original design, hence why I have decided not to use it for my banner and poster designs as it needs to link with the art department and needs to come across as a welcoming banner. http://art-sheep.com/the-controversial-imprints-of-haris-lithos/ After looking into Yves Klein's work I discovered another artists that includes parts of the human body that is similar to Yves, but does less performance and experiments more with other objects such as teddy bears and denim wear, these materials create a ghostly and rustic look to the images and develop a very abstract sense to his work. His name is Haris Lithos, he is a greek fine artist but always has a pop art style in some of his work. Although he experiments with other object his favourite seems to be the human buttocks as most of his work is of women sitting and pressing there posterior on canvas. He sees more than just an image of the rear end of a woman on a canvas, he understands the stages of the printings and the compositions of the women its as if he uses the women to substitute a paint brush other than them being just an object. The greek artist stands mainly as an observer and guides the women

Experimental leaf work

This painting was created to elaborate on my 4cm object work. My teacher told us to use only one brush and the brush he gave us was a very large one, so consequently my painting turned out very bold and heavy. In my opinion I feel I could of done it less block colours but I am happy with the design of the leaf.
