This particular poster was difficult for me as the image I chose to edit and develop was very bright and bold so a simple but still effective design is what I was looking for. I began to start this poster by researching into poster designs, however by doing this it came up with the same results as my other research so I extended this further and looked into bill board designs. The designs I found were just what I was looking for, they gave me the idea to uses solid colours or even plane whites and black in shapes such as squares, circles or even just patches of colour. From this research it has aided me towards a different style of design compared to my first and second design. I will keep researching for other designs and to see what other ideas I can bounce off to use in my work.
So after using the images I looked at from my research I placed my edited photo into illustrator and stretched it to the size of the document then freely drew a loose outline around the sides of the page and filled them in black. Another idea I thought about was using white Bauhaus text as it is very popular and suits well to many different images. Also I experimented with merging shapes e.g triangles into a line and seeing if that fits into the design, in the end it didn't look as good as I thought it would so I progressed my ideas more and tried more things out.
After creating a basic design I decided to use a tool I don't normally use just to see what it'd be like. I used the pencil tool to create random swirls and curves with in the black areas to make it less boring and much more exciting. Although the black background made the design stand out more I thought about using a different colour for it such as white. My overall opinion of these two designs are average and can defiantly be improved. Although I do feel that sticking with the Bauhaus text is a good idea as I like this text and its bold and noticeable.
After looking back on my research again I moved away from the swirls and curves and went for the lines and stripes look. I did this as this can create a modern and funky look to my design, however the image on the left I feel is very poor as it is very basic and boring but it is still an experimental design and I can work from it and learn from my mistakes. Although the design on the right I feel will be a lot more suited for the poster design as it is not as busy as my other designs and it is very vibrant and bright. Although in my opinion it still can be improved so I will experiment with more line work and colours to create a final design.
This is my final third poster design. The overall look to the poster is very welcoming and exciting in my opinion as the colours are matching and work well with the other colours is contrast. I also think that making the edited paint photo I did into a line similar to the others instead of it being a plane square was a good decision as this fits well with the other shapes. Additionally, when I included the white it seemed like it went well with the other colours and broke up the large impact of bold colours to calm the design down a bit and create a uncomplicated poster. As I mentioned earlier, Ive kept the text the same as I still feel it looks well with my design. Lastly to finalise the poster I added the college logo on the bottom o the poster.
