Banner Design 4

Now this design was the one I enjoyed making the most. The editing part of the image was exciting as the type of colours attracted me to use it and the black paint splats stood out in contrast to the other bright colours e.g reds, pinks and oranges. I used the curves and the levels options to make the image stimulating and energetic so that it was different to the other design but also created its own look for this particular one. Also because the white areas on the image were slightly grey, I went into selective colour and removed all the grey and other colours, such as magenta and cyan out of it to have a clear white background but still kept the hints of black dots, as I feel they made it look very abstract and funky.

When placing the edited image into illustrator I measured it to the correct size which was 120mm x 300mm. At first I created a triangle using the pen tool and made it black, then I looked at changing the opacity between 70%- 90%of the shape and seeing if that worked well or not, I then placed the object into the bottom left corner and put the text typing down the edge of the shape. After doing this first idea I then looked back at my research into banner designs, I also looked at my first three designs and thought about doing something very different and more simple as my original idea was slightly bland and too boring. So I simply placed a white box at the side of the design and wrote art and design in the centre of it in Helvetica light. After doing this it made me think about experimenting with different text wordings, so I thought about using catchy artistic phrases or quotes from artists just to see how that would look. In the end I stuck with art and design as it can be miss leading using other quotes sometimes and using "Art & Design" makes it much more professional and to the point.

Although I thought I had completed my fourth design I decided to delete the background of the design on the right and work with a whole new image that I took using a camera. Same with the other photos I edited the image using curves and levels, however I changed the vibrance of this image and the saturation as my intention was to make the pink lines bright and lively. Then to make them stand out even more I went into adjustments then selective colour and again took all of the colours out of the white background to have a clear, blended background. 

Then I finally placed it into illustrator and lined it up with the correct measurements. These are my two final designs for my fourth banner. Out of my designs so far I am very happy with these the most as they are very funky and arty. I believe they are linked well with the task set and I have chosen the correct colours to match with the design. For this design I feel I don't want to change anything or edit it as I want it to stay the same because I am happy with the final outcome. Although for this design I will defiantly create a poster and a business card as I have several design ideas for them.
