Work in the style of De Stijl but using the theme Alice in Wonderland

From looking into Alice and wonderland Ive thought to experiment with a certain skill I enjoy and that I feel I work well with, printing. I started of by sketching several drawings just to work in the style of alice inwonderland then I began to think about doing more than just simple pencil drawings, so I drew one of the main objects from the teaparty and went around the drawing with tracing paper after I completed the first sketch. I then inprinted it onto a printing tile and went around the design firmly with a pen. I chose the base colour as yellow as my idea was to use dark colours over the background just like De Stijl works. Finally after the base colour dried I began to make a design on the teapot using the technique De Stijl uses, primary colours and black blocks were what I covered the teapot in.

To make sure my design was accurate I took a photo of the middle section of the teapot's tile and scribbles on the areas that were a certain colour using an app on my phone. I did this so that I could see what it would look like before I actually put any paint on it, I did the same with the spout on the teapot.

This is the final design of my work. Im very happy with it as it links well with how De Stijl works and is very abstract and strange just like the Alice in womderland theme. The main part about the piece, is the layout of the colours, I feel ive arranged it well and in an order that isnt too typical but is still slightly random. However my main goal was to use the three primary colours, now as I started to print these the red mixed slightly with the yellow background and created a slightly magenta colour which isnt what I was going for as I wanted a very bold red. Same with the blue it mixed a little with the yellow, althought the black didnt seem to change this is because the colour is a lot harder to mix with as it is bolder and a more thick colour.

After finishing my print I then decided to experiment my idea further and place it into photoshop. I started off by playing around with the curves and levels of the image to make it more lighter and vibrant, I also experiment with the brightness and contrast of the colours this made them a lot bolder than normal and created a slightly pixely look to it. I also had a look at the selective colour and took all the cyan, megenta and neutrals out of the background so that the outline of the teapot was exactly the same colour as the background. Afterwards I then began playing about with the fill and paint tool and decided to overlook a whole new style for the teapot but still working with in De Stijls techniques. I filled in the main areas with the block primary colours as shown below and in my opinion turned out very modern and unusual, I then chose a black background to make the teapot stand out and decided to go against the white outline and experiment with something a lot brighter, pink. Somehow I may use this style again in my work but for now I am still unsure, I will try out some more different skills.
