Research for second British Values poster

Research for my second idea for the posters was very useful as it has given me ideas to look further into minimal poster design for several famous advertisements such as, Disney, car companies and famous films. Discovering some of these designs aided me towards looking at the simpler side to advertising and how just using the basics can still be a good impact towards the viewer even without using as much detail.

This poster is linked with Disney and the popular film "Ratatouille". It has kept with the same colours that are with in the film, the light greys and several tones of blues. In this image the main character is the rat (Remme) he is placed into a chef's hat to symbolise that this is what he is all about and his main interests. The creator of this poster did this so that the viewer noticed the hat first as it is the biggest object on there. Then forming from the background and into the hat is the rat with his hand up. This explains that he is welcoming you to the film and this encourages the viewer to watch it.

This poster is slightly similar to the one above however they have different meanings. Although the poster above is advertising a film, this poster is for the car company 'Fiat'. The poster uses black for the background so that the main image stands out with in the poster. The text in the top right corner says "You either see the letter or the little girl" this is shows that the poster is telling you to not text and drive and to pay attention when driving. Its used the letter R to represent texting whilst on a mobile device, however inside the R is a little girl holding a balloon this links to the poster above as they both use a large image for impact and then add the main point image inside of the larger picture. I find this technique very moving and inspiring as it had two meanings to it which makes it so powerful. I will use this technique in my second poster so that I can relate to the meaning of this image but using the British value "respect".

As well as the two posters iv'e looked into this one gave me a layout idea for my poster. I liked how the bottom section of the poster was cut off and covered with a brighter colour. With my poster i am going to do the same but experiment with colours such as: yellows, whites, greys and purples. I will do this as I think it gives a bolder effective to the poster and creates and more solid looks to it. Also looking at the two black figures in the centre of this poster gave me the idea to use just the outline of a human figure with in my letter R but with a fist in the air as if he is asking for respect.
