Photography for British values posters

Using photography for this unit is important as it helps me understand the purpose of the object, the position and the lighting around the object. From the photos I've taken I will work from them in Photoshop and edit them into my posters. The feather is to represent freedom and liberty. I've taken a photo of it singularly as this cancels out any other meanings behind it and adds focus on the main object; the feather. I've experimented with white and black backgrounds as this create a different look to the object, for example using the black background made the lighter colours in the feather stand out however the down side to using the black paper is that the lighting created a glow to it and made the paper slightly grey looking and also made every small dot on the paper stand out. Therefore using the white paper was a much better idea as this made the bolder colours on the feather sharper and it will be a lot easier to edit in Photoshop as the background it white not black and will be similar to take the yellow out.

Another idea I have is using a key. I have done sketches in my sketchbook of keys and different styles of keys using pencil, however using photography is developing my ideas more and is helping me to elaborate on my photography skills, like changing the angle of the key by placing it on its side, laying it flat or overlapping it with another key. I decided to use a key as is represents being unique and the link to liberty.
