Presentation Prep for Unit 78

Presentation Preparation

1. The idea behind my story board is my journey through college. Ive shown experiences that Ive had applying and during college such as: my favourite assignment, work experience and even the first day I attended the college. I drew my comic strip on layout paper on the side that doesn't blend. This gave my comic a bold and cartoon look that I was looking for.

2.  For my research I looked into famous comic strips and illustrators such as The Beano, Charlie        Brown and Garfield. However my main illustrator I looked into was Nigel Parkinson, he was the creator of The Beano comic strips, he's given me the idea to use small sections of text in my comic strips and to experiment with different styles of cells, for example; wavy, spiky and a simple box outline. Also looking into Charlie Brown comics was also useful as this gave me more ideas for creating my character, it gave me the idea that I could emphasise on certain features of my face and enlarge my eyes and hair.

3.  The structure and flow of my story is simple yet still effective this is because each cell links after one another and my drawings are very large and clear to see. The structure of my cells and title is very bold and bright this shows that the layout is very noticeable and detailed so the audience with be drawn to it.

4. Within my cells are me drawings of my journey through college, from applying for the course to my current favourite unit. Shown in my cells of my comic strip are sketches of me, people I've met so far and certain lessons I've remembered, they are drawn in black and solid colours as this creates an eye catching look to it and draws in the viewers attention.

5. Already I have re-drawn my comic strip several times just to get it right, in my opinion, Ive improved it in many ways for example I went back to my research for comic text and discovered a wider range of text design, this gave me the idea to design a whole new style for my title. Also certain colours didn't suit the layout of my comic strip and I felt I needed brighter colours for example the reds and purples I chose were a lot lighter than before. However to make my work stronger now I need to scan it into photoshop and edit the tones of the colours and brightness of certain areas. Using the computers and doing the digitisation shows that Ive been experimenting with different materials and extending my work further to get the highest outcome.
