My fourth design for the British values poster

My idea for this specific poster came from research and my sketch book development. In my book work I focused on Individual Liberty and how it links to being free and freedom of speech. I began by setting up an adobe illustrator document and created a rectangle in the shape of the poster and experimented with different colours such as reds, blues and greens for the background, in the end I chose green as its bright and vibrant. Then I chose a picture from google of a bird cage and traced around it with the pen tool, I found this difficult as getting the curves and the edges of the cage was hard as I needed it to be the correct proportion for my poster. Secondly I made some speech bubbles with the pen tool and got a photo of speech bubbles from the internet to look at whilst I created my own personalised ones. However the meaning  of the poster is to have "freedom of speech" thats why I formed the cage to look as if it had broken and the speech bubbles had been set free.

Experimenting with text was my next option and including the union jack and the college logo. So I tested out using the words "British Values" and "Individual Liberty" to see which suited the poster better, in the end I chose Individual Liberty. Then I chose the text type Palatino. I feel it is very simple and neat thats why I decided to use this text.

This is my final design of my fourth poster. I am very happy with the final outcome as I included at the last minute a rope hanging from the cage and I also changed the position of the text. This is because I feel it looks better and is clear when placed underneath the cage. In addition to the text I changed it into Helvetica lights, I did this because I found it much more well suited for the poster and kept it smart.
