The beginning structure of my costume

I began to create my costume with the bottom half, I chose to make my skirt using chicken wire and newspaper as I knew I could form it into the shape of my body easily and mould it into the correct style I wanted it to be. At first I tried it on to get the correct size of my waist, then I gently took it off and placed it onto a manikin, so I was able to shape it correctly as I found it hard to do this whilst it was on my body because of the wire stopping me from bending my body. During to development of the base of my costume I realised it wasn't as big as I wanted it to be, so I had to cut up the wire and add more sections to it, to enlarge it. During the making of this I had to be very aware of the health hazards such as wearing gloves and eye protection e.g. goggles. Also wearing overalls were important as the wire sometimes catches onto clothing and rips them.
