Oskar Schlemmer was a German painter, sculptor, designer and choreographer. He took part in all of these in the Bauhaus school. His most famous work is the Triadisches Ballet. His work is very strange and abstract however in my opinion it is very addictive to look at. Whilst creating the ballet he made a half an hour long film of the dancers wearing his work. The music to the film is very bizarre and the facial expressions on the actors are very freaky.

I enjoyed using wire and wire mesh when experiencing new techniques with materials so, in my own costume idea I'm going to use a variety of sizes and styles of wire. Although, when I experimented with plaster bandage and paper mashé it didn't go they way I thought it would, so I will not be using paper mashé or plaster bandage in my model, instead I may use cardboard to make the structure strong and supported. However looking back on materials I've used and materials I have already discovered, cotton or some kind of fabric is an option for me as well as tissue paper or string, this is because these are my strong points and I know can create it simply nut still make a strong, abstract looking model.

This type of fashion inspires me as it is very different compared to other sculptures. Although some people find it very absurd and quite freakish. The facial features and expressions are in some way scary and random this is the reason people tend to avoid looking at it and discovering the reason behind his work.
In my opinion these three models are very exciting to look at, as I feel they are very abstract and functional towards the human mind. They make you think why did he create that and what does it mean. The pole like structures hanging from one of the models inspires me to use an idea like this but with tissue paper. Also the arms and legs on the left model give me an idea to use balloons.

Now I've got a rough idea of materials I'm going to experiment with (cotton, wire mesh and tissue paper) I began looking into modern architecture and the structure of them. The lines and the features of the buildings give me ideas to use in my model, such as the holes and curves in them.
