At first I began researching into character design and background design. I did this so I could see how the characters are exaggerated and how they show emotion e.g large eyes, worry lines, hair styles and hand gestures. I also looked into how they create a character, they begin with a simple sketch and develop it into a fully detailed drawing.
This image below shows how characters are made over time. A simple body outline is created then detail is included with the eyes, nose and mouth. Depending on how you want your character to look drawing several designs is a good idea as this helps you see it from a different perspective e.g curly hair, straight hair or the way the arms are folded or how the character is stood. All these details are important as this represents what your character is really like.
