During this lesson I found it very hard to work in the style of Oskar Schlemmer as I find some of his work very strange and quite hard to work in the style of him. Looking back on my research I looked at how he uses lines in his work and how he uses the edges and corners of the body to add posture and effect to the model. So using this research I painted a basic outline of the model and experimented with black lines using a ruler. I placed the ruler on areas of her figure where they fold and bend then strikes a line straight across the body.
The painting with colour is the one i am most proud of as it has a more realistic body shape and I feel the lines are very affective. On the other hand the colourless painting was just an experiment at first just the see what the lines would look like, this is why her legs and her feet are not finished and several parts of the body are miss shaped e.g the right breast and her arms. In next weeks lesson I will attempt another painting of the model in the style of Oskar's work to get one final painting finished to go towards my costume design assignment.
