I began looking into photos of editorial illustration designing and certain videos about it. I learnt that most editorial design has a meaning behind it, I like this; as it adds more of an affect to the photo. It is good for advertising and publishing as using this technique attracts viewers to look at it and want to find out more.
As well as research I picked out certain images that caught my eye. This photo for example has a very clever story behind it, the boy is using the game control whilst sat down, this is implying that this is what our generation is like now. Something that's even more impressive is that coming from the lower area of his body tree is roots. This suggest that he has in some way grown and attached himself to the ground, this is because most of the time he has spent sitting there doing the same thing. Although the image is very imaginative the colours are a main importance for the photo as the red back ground makes the image stand out and the brown area resembles soil, where the roots develop underneath boy.
This photo is similar as it has a red background to make it bolder. However this image is more simple but still effective as the meaning is that "you are what you eat". The resemblance of the burger and his stomach is in some way ironic, as this exaggerates how large you can get by eating unhealthy foods. This adds a major impact on the person viewing it and makes you think about your own health and diet, this is exactly what the image wants you to think.
Now, this image is very meaningful, as it expresses how poor the freedom of Americans used to be. Using their own flag as jail bars is very disheartening as this indicated how helpless they were. However because this photo shows this, it explains a very powerful message to the viewers. Consequently looking into editorial illustration design will hopefully give me many creative ideas towards another plan for my guide for the college or even future work.
