During my research, I looked into different styles of font to use on my Learner Survival Guides. I discovered a variety of different styles of writing and took a screenshot and displayed them clearly. However I also did the same when exploring for images, I began with searching editorial design work then developed into looking at album covers and book covers. This helped me to get a wider range of ideas and now I can look back on this and generate ideas from it.
For more of my research I put together a collage of photos from albums, poster designs and even film covers. I found creating this very useful as it had given me many ideas to use bright colours and abstract objects in my guides. Also the facial expressions of the photos I discovered are in some way dramatic and gives me an idea to use the camera and take photos for my guides, such as abstract objects or peoples facial expressions.
Also for my research I looked at images on the internet of editorial design. This gave me an idea of what it actually is and how it links to my guides. Looking at the layouts of newspaper articles and poster design helps me think of how I can create something very similar and effective, such as using abstract images and shapes and the way I present text. Also linking this back to facial expressions, this could be a big part of my guides as it draws the viewers attention very quickly when using the correct facial expression and direct eye contact.
Looking at album covers guided me to not just stick with vibrant colours and experiment with simple shapes such as triangles and squares. Also this helped me to get more ideas on what exactly to edit in photoshop e.g the contrast of certain colours, adjusting the curves and brightness of them and how facial features are presented to add an effect to the viewer. Also text on album, covers are not always what you think, some are very simple but then some are very bold and loud, this can work both ways as my research has shown me that text can bring the message across several ways even if its not as obvious.
